What's new in Flowing Fists?
Flowing Fists is the next main expansion in the Pokemon TCG Mega Evolution series, following Delta Reign, and the English version of Japan's Aura Seeker. It brings Z Mega Evolution to the card game for the first time, led by Mega Lucario Z ex.
Z Mega Evolution
New card type. Z Mega Evolution Pokemon come from the Mega Dimension DLC for Pokemon Legends: Z-A. In the card game they arrive as Mega Evolution Pokemon ex, and Flowing Fists is the first set to feature them.
Mega Lucario Z ex
Headline Pokemon. Mega Lucario Z ex is a 330 HP Metal Stage 1 that evolves from Riolu. Its Aura Seeker Ability searches your deck for a Supporter once per turn while it is your Active Pokemon, and its Dancing Fist attack does 120 damage, or 240 against a Pokemon ex.
Sigilyph ex
Counter to Megas. Sigilyph ex is a 210 HP Basic Psychic Pokemon. Its Mega Protection prevents all damage done to it by attacks from your opponent's Mega Evolution Pokemon ex, a direct answer to the decks the Mega Evolution series is built around.
A nod to Furious Fists
The name. Flowing Fists is named after 2014's XY Furious Fists, which also put Mega Lucario front and centre with M Lucario-EX. More than a decade later, Mega Lucario Z ex takes the starring role.
A smaller, 1:1 set
Set size. The first English cards are numbered out of 080, so the main set is 80 cards, close to Japan's 78-card Aura Seeker. Like Perfect Order, Chaos Rising and Pitch Black, it is an almost one-to-one copy of a single Japanese set, and those sets added around 40 secret rares on top.

Is Flowing Fists worth it?
Our take, based on the cards and products revealed so far.
For players. Mega Lucario Z ex fetches a Supporter every turn and hits Pokemon ex for 240, so it should slot into Metal decks straight away. Sigilyph ex is worth watching as a tech against the Mega Evolution Pokemon ex that dominate the format. A prerelease is the best way to try the set early.
For collectors. Z Mega Evolution is brand new to the card game, so the first Mega Lucario Z ex cards are a debut piece. The full rarity line-up has not been shown yet; we will add the chase cards here once the card list is out.
Worth it if
- You play Lucario or Metal decks: Mega Lucario Z ex is the headline card.
- You collect firsts: this is the first set with Z Mega Evolution Pokemon.
Think twice if
- You only need one or two specific cards: buying the singles is cheaper than chasing them in packs.
