Opus IX, Lords and Chaos, released in July 2019 and is the villain set. Rather than leading with heroes, it is built around the most recognisable antagonists and boss characters in the series, drawing from Final Fantasy IV, VI, VII and XIV among others, with sixteen full art cards available across the expansion.
Each sealed display contains 36 packs of 12 cards with one premium foil per pack. The villain theme gives this set a following well beyond competitive players, because the character selection appeals to collectors who want Kefka, Sephiroth and Golbez artwork regardless of whether they ever play a game.
Lords and Chaos has been out of print since 2019 and is one of the more reliably traded sealed Opus sets in the UK, which is unusual for a set of its age. Sealed English displays typically change hands in the seventy to ninety five pound range here.
