Festival Lead at a glance
- Floods the bench, plays Festival Grounds, and attacks twice with Festival Lead Pokémon.
- Suits players who enjoy building engine turns and threatening multiple Knock Outs.
- Medium difficulty: Stage 1 evolutions and seventeen distinct Trainer cards to manage.
How Festival Lead wins
The core loop starts with Festival Grounds in play. Any Pokémon that has the Festival Lead Ability, including Dipplin, Seaking, and Goldeen, may use one of its attacks twice per turn while that Stadium is active. If the first use Knocks Out the opponent's Active Pokémon, the second use fires after the opponent promotes a new one. That means a single attacking turn can threaten two Knock Outs from one Energy.
Dipplin's Do the Wave deals 20 damage for each of your Benched Pokémon. With a full bench of five, that is 100 damage per hit, and with Festival Lead active it can hit twice, or chain into a freshly promoted target. The deck runs four copies of Buddy-Buddy Poffin to search out two Basic Pokémon with 70 HP or less at once, and four Poké Pad to find any non-Rule-Box Pokémon from the deck, so filling that bench quickly is straightforward.
Thwackey ties the search engine together. Its Boom Boom Grove Ability lets you, once per turn, search your deck for any card and put it into your hand, shuffling afterwards, but only while your Active Pokémon has the Festival Lead Ability. That condition is met whenever Dipplin, Seaking, or Goldeen is in the Active Spot, turning every attacking turn into a free Trainer search on top of whatever Items you play. Four copies of Lillie's Determination back this up as a draw Supporter, drawing 6 cards or 8 cards if you have exactly 6 Prize cards remaining.
Gladion's Final Battle adds a damage boost when it is the last card in your hand: attacks used by your non-Rule-Box Pokémon deal 80 more damage to the opponent's Active Pokémon that turn. Brave Bangle adds a further 30 damage against Pokémon ex. Seaking's Rapid Draw hits for 60 damage and draws 2 cards, and with Festival Lead it can do that twice, keeping your hand topped up mid-game. Rabsca sits on the bench to prevent all damage and effects of attacks from the opponent's Pokémon done to your Benched Pokémon, protecting the wide bench you depend on.

Your first turns, and what to aim for
Your opening priority is to get Festival Grounds into play and flood your bench. Play Buddy-Buddy Poffin early to put two Basic Pokémon with 70 HP or less directly onto your bench in one card, and use Poké Pad to find whichever evolution piece or attacker you need most. Applin's Find a Friend attack can also search out a Pokémon from the deck and put it into your hand if you are behind on Items. Forest of Vitality lets your Grass Pokémon evolve on the same turn you play them outside of your first turn, so you can rush Dipplin or Thwackey into play the moment you have the pieces.
Once you have a Festival Lead Pokémon in the Active Spot and Festival Grounds up, use Thwackey's Boom Boom Grove each turn to search for whatever card the situation demands, whether that is another Festival Grounds to replace a disrupted Stadium, a Supporter, or an Energy. Keep your bench as full as possible so Do the Wave's multiplier stays high. Gladion's Final Battle rewards tight hand management: work your hand down to one card, then play it to add 80 damage to your non-Rule-Box attacks for that turn. Brave Bangle stacks on top for Pokémon ex. Rabsca on the bench keeps your spread of Pokémon safe from opposing bench-targeting attacks throughout.
Night Stretcher and Lana's Aid recover Pokémon and Basic Energy from the discard pile, keeping your attackers rotating back in. Boss's Orders and Pokémon Catcher let you pull a Benched Pokémon of your opponent's into the Active Spot when you want to pick a specific target for your second attack in a double-attack turn.

Festival Lead, answered
Quick answers about playing and building this deck.
01Is Festival Lead good for beginners?⌄
Festival Lead is not the most straightforward deck for beginners. It sits at Medium difficulty because it runs four Stage 1 evolution lines and seventeen distinct Trainer cards that all interact with each other. You need to track the Festival Grounds Stadium, manage your hand size deliberately for Gladion's Final Battle, and sequence your search Items correctly each turn. Players who have handled a two-line evolution deck before will find the patterns click quickly, but if this is your first competitive deck it will take a few practice games before the turns flow naturally.
02What are the key cards in Festival Lead?⌄
The non-negotiable cards are Festival Grounds, Dipplin, Thwackey, and four Buddy-Buddy Poffin. Festival Grounds switches on every Festival Lead Ability in the deck, so without it none of your attackers can hit twice. Dipplin's Do the Wave scales with your bench size, making it the primary damage source. Thwackey's Boom Boom Grove searches any card from your deck each turn while a Festival Lead Pokémon is Active, which is what lets the deck find the right card at the right time. Buddy-Buddy Poffin populates the bench in one card, keeping the damage output and the Boom Boom Grove trigger consistent.
03How much does a Festival Lead deck cost in the UK?⌄
Every card at the cheapest printing we list comes to £74.50 at today's prices, and we can send 10 of the 60 cards today (£10.80). Prices and stock change daily, so the list above always shows the current figures.
04Is Festival Lead Standard legal?⌄
Yes. Every card in this list is legal in the current Standard format (TEF-30C).
