Products, Prereleases, and What to Expect

Prereleases will run from 24 October to 1 November, giving players an early crack at the new cards before full release day. Preorders are expected to open on PokemonCenter.com in September, roughly a month ahead of launch, based on the timing of previous Mega Evolution drops.

Four booster pack wrapper designs have been shown off, each featuring one of the set’s headline Mega Evolutions: Mega Rayquaza, Mega Golisopod, Mega Golurk, and Mega Malamar. Product images for the full lineup have also started appearing, including the Elite Trainer Box and additional collection boxes.

The Elite Trainer Box will feature a Kyogre Illustration Rare as its promo card, originally from Japan’s Storm Emeralda set. That card has been cut from the main English set list and repurposed as the ETB exclusive.

Here’s what’s confirmed inside Delta Reign:

  • Over 140 cards in total
  • Four new Mega Evolution Pokemon ex: Mega Rayquaza, Mega Golurk, Mega Malamar, and Mega Golisopod
  • Six Pokemon ex
  • More than a dozen Trainer cards, including three new Legendary Stadiums
  • 14 illustration rare Pokemon
  • 17 ultra rare Pokemon and Trainer cards
  • Six special illustration rare Pokemon and Supporter cards

Legendary Stadiums: A Nod to the LEGEND Era

Perhaps the most exciting new mechanic in Delta Reign is the introduction of split Stadium cards, each carrying “Legendary” in their name. These two-part cards hark back to the beloved LEGEND cards from the HeartGold & SoulSilver era, think Lugia LEGEND, where you needed both halves to play the card. The same restriction applies here: because both halves share the same name, you can only ever play two complete sets of a given Legendary Stadium in a deck. It’s a flavourful throwback that should create some interesting deckbuilding decisions.

A Multi-Source English Set

Delta Reign is notable for being the first English set since Phantasmal Flames to combine multiple Japanese sources, rather than being a near 1:1 copy of a single Japanese release. The set pulls together cards from three distinct pools:

  • The 110+ cards from Japan’s Storm Emeralda set, which released on 31 July 2026
  • 30 unique cards from the Japanese MEGA Starter Decks featuring Eevee ex, Zoroark ex, and Meowscarada ex, released alongside Storm Emeralda
  • Unreleased Japanese Gym promos, including Grisham (May 2026) and Mega Tatsugiri ex and Lida (August 2026)

This approach means Western players will get a chunkier, more varied set in a single release, bundling content that Japanese collectors had to chase across several products and events.

With prereleases kicking off in late October and preorders likely dropping next month, Delta Reign is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Mega Evolution releases yet. Between the Legendary Stadium mechanic, four new Mega exs, and that gorgeous Kyogre ETB promo, there’s plenty to look forward to this autumn.
