Two new cards from the upcoming 30th Celebration set have surfaced, and they bring some interesting tricks to the table. Alolan Exeggutor arrives as a beefy Stage 1 with a wild scaling ability, while Scraggy offers hand disruption on a Basic body. Here’s what we know.
The New Cards
Alolan Exeggutor is a Grass-type Stage 1 with 150 HP, evolving from Exeggcute. Its standout feature is the Scale Up ability: if it has six or more Grass Energy attached, it gains a massive +250 HP, pushing it to a staggering 400 HP total. Its attack, Mega Drain, costs one Grass and three Colourless Energy, dealing 150 damage while healing 50 from itself. With four retreat cost, Fire weakness, and no resistance, it is clearly designed to sit in the Active spot and tank hits once fully powered up. Getting six Grass Energy onto a single Pokemon is no small ask, but if the 30th Celebration set or the wider format provides strong energy acceleration, Alolan Exeggutor could become a surprisingly durable wall.
Scraggy is a Darkness-type Basic with 80 HP and two attacks. Nitpick costs a single Darkness Energy and forces your opponent to shuffle their hand into their deck and draw four cards, a form of hand disruption that can punish opponents holding large hands of key resources. Its second attack, Corkscrew Punch, deals 30 damage for one Darkness and one Colourless. Grass weakness, no resistance, and a retreat cost of two round it out. As a Basic, Scraggy could slot into Darkness decks looking for an early disruption option, though it will likely shine most as a setup piece rather than a main attacker.
An alternate art Alolan Exeggutor promo will also be included in the 30th Celebration Tech Sticker Collection, giving collectors another version of the card to chase.
Release Date
