Pokémon TCG First Partner Illustration Collection Series 2 Announced

Pokémon TCG First Partner Illustration Collection Series 2 Announced

The Pokémon Company International has confirmed the First Partner Illustration Collection Series 2 is in development, expanding the premium illustration card collection line that launched in 2023.

Building on Series 1’s Foundation

The First Partner Illustration Collection - Series 1 was a standard boxed Pokémon TCG product built around illustration rare-style promo cards. Each box included 1 promo pack containing 3 of 9 promo cards, 2 additional booster packs, and 1 sticker sheet. Rather than focusing only on Kanto starters, Series 1 pulled its featured first partner Pokémon from Kanto, Sinnoh, and Alola.

That structure also makes Series 2 easier to explain accurately. Retail listings for First Partner Illustration Collection - Series 2 describe the same core format, with the promo pool shifting to first partner Pokémon from Johto, Unova, and Galar. The listing from Asmodee show a 19th of June 2026 release date.

What Series 2 Could Mean for Collectors

Early retail listings indicate that Series 2 continues the same structure as Series 1, with a new pool of promo cards focused on first partner Pokémon from Johto, Unova, and Galar rather than a single generation. This keeps the product aligned with the broader “first partner” theme while expanding coverage across multiple regions.

Like Series 1, the appeal sits in the exclusive promo pool and sealed presentation, not gameplay impact. Each box contributes toward completing a wider 9-card promo set, making it relevant for collectors aiming to finish the full First Partner lineup rather than casual buyers opening for packs.

From a release perspective, this is a boxed collector product, not a mainline set, so supply tends to follow standard retail distribution rather than wave-based scarcity. Condition-sensitive collectors may still prefer early purchases, but there is no clear indication this will behave like a limited-run or short-printed release.
