Disney Lorcana’s 12th set, Wilds Unknown, arrives in May 2026, introducing beloved Pixar characters including Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and heroes from The Incredibles franchise to the trading card game.
Pixar Expansion Brings New Franchise Depth
This marks Lorcana’s most significant Pixar expansion since the game’s launch, moving beyond the Disney animation focus that dominated earlier sets like The First Chapter and Rise of the Floodborn. The inclusion of Toy Story characters represents a strategic shift towards incorporating Pixar’s most recognisable properties, potentially opening doors for other Pixar franchises like Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, and Cars in future releases.
The Incredibles characters bring superhero mechanics to Lorcana’s gameplay, which could introduce new card types or abilities centred around heroic actions and family synergies. Toy Story’s Buzz and Woody offer natural partnership dynamics that may translate into powerful combo cards or support mechanics, similar to how Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse cards have worked together in previous sets.
Following the established pattern of previous sets, Wilds Unknown showcases the game’s premium full-art cards across two exclusive tiers. The Enchanted cards introduce an Art Nouveau-inspired aesthetic that Ravensburger calls “Lore Nouveau,” specifically crafted to evoke the sensation of exploring uncharted territories. The ultra-rare Iconic cards elevate this artistic approach with enhanced foil treatments and additional visual effects. Two confirmed Iconic cards for Wilds Unknown are Merida - Formidable Archer and Buzz Lightyear - Jungle Ranger.

Strategic Implications for Collectors
Pixar characters typically command premium prices in Disney merchandise, and Lorcana cards should follow this trend. Buzz Lightyear cards, in particular, often become chase cards due to the character’s enduring popularity across demographics. The Incredibles roster - Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Dash, Violet, and Jack-Jack - provides multiple character variants that could spawn rare enchanted versions and alternate artwork treatments.
Wilds Unknown’s May 2026 release timing positions it perfectly for summer tournament play, giving competitive players several months to integrate new strategies before major championship events typically held in autumn. The set’s Pixar focus may also attract crossover collectors from other Disney properties, potentially increasing demand beyond the established Lorcana player base.
The “Wilds” theme suggests adventure-focused gameplay mechanics, which aligns well with Toy Story’s imaginative play concepts and The Incredibles’ action-oriented storytelling. Expect quest-based abilities and exploration mechanics that reward aggressive play styles, contrasting with the more strategic, location-control focus of recent sets like Into the Inklands.
