"Are You Perhaps with Team Rocket?" - A Mysterious New Trademark and Japan's Packed TCG Schedule

A curious new trademark has surfaced from Pokémon Japan, and it’s got the community buzzing. Filed under the same categories typically reserved for TCG set names and products, “Are You Perhaps with Team Rocket?” (お前、もしかしてロケット団?) is unlike anything we’ve seen before, right down to the question mark. Meanwhile, Japan’s upcoming release calendar is absolutely stacked through the end of the year.

A Team Rocket Trademark Raises Eyebrows

According to PokeBeach, this is the first time a Pokémon TCG-related trademark has included a question mark in its name, which immediately makes it stand out. That said, not every trademark in these filing categories turns into a full booster set. PokeBeach points to the example of “Battle Academy,” which was trademarked in June 2023 and eventually became the Battle Academy product that launched in March 2024, a standalone product containing 98 cards rather than a mainline expansion.

There’s also a compelling historical parallel. For Pokémon’s 20th anniversary back in 2016, the Pokémon Center released a made-to-order Team Rocket Special Case for around ¥12,000 (roughly $100 at the time). According to PokeBeach, that premium product included exclusive promos of Giovanni’s Scheme and Here Comes Team Rocket!, a Team Rocket deck box, 64 card sleeves, and a metal coin, all housed in a sturdy collector’s case. With the 30th Celebration set arriving this autumn, PokeBeach suggests this new trademark could signal a similar Team Rocket-themed premium product tied to the anniversary festivities.

Japan’s Upcoming TCG Schedule Is Stacked

While we wait for more details on the Team Rocket trademark, Japan’s release slate for the second half of 2026 is worth paying attention to. Here’s everything on the calendar, according to PokeBeach:

  • 31 July - Storm Emeralda, featuring Mega Rayquaza ex, plus three MEGA Starter Set ex Decks featuring Eevee ex, Zoroark ex, and Meowscarada ex.
  • 16 September - The global launch of 30th Celebration, alongside two Japanese-exclusive boxes: the “30th Celebration Premium Deck Set Espeon & Umbreon” and the “30th Celebration Futuristic Box” featuring two Pikachu ex.
  • 16 October - Nine 30th Celebration Card Sets featuring the 27 Starter Pokémon promos (equivalent to the international “First Partner Collections”).
  • 13 November - A Special Deck Set featuring Mega Feraligatr ex, Mega Dragonite ex, and Mega Gengar ex.
  • 27 November - Aura Seeker, featuring Mega Lucario Z ex.
  • TBC - Japan’s annual “High Class Pack” set, with no confirmed date yet.

That’s a remarkable density of product, especially with multiple Mega ex Pokémon headlining sets across the autumn. The MEGA Starter Set ex Decks arriving alongside Storm Emeralda on 31 July should give newer players a solid on-ramp into what’s shaping up to be a Mega-heavy era for the game.

Whether “Are You Perhaps with Team Rocket?” ends up being a cheeky premium box, a quirky sub-set, or something else entirely, we’ll be keeping a close eye on it. The 30th anniversary celebrations are clearly going to be far more than a single set, and Team Rocket showing up to the party feels entirely on brand.
